Casey South Melbourne AGM

The 2024 Casey South Melbourne annual general meeting took place on Sunday the 11th of August at Casey Fields and with good attendance.

Below are the key points:

The club is pleased to announce the formation of an under-15s team that will compete in the Dowland Shield, part of the Sunday Turf Competition. Coached by Liam O’Connor, this initiative enhances the club's commitment to junior development, providing young players with valuable competitive experience. This team will be chosen from players involved in the Damien Fleming Academy and will act as a pathway to the Dowling Shield and senior teams.

COMMITTEE NOMINATIONS

Ross Moore was voted in as the 35th Club President since 1862, after the departure of Shaun Petrie who held the position for 6 years. The club thanks Shaun for his contributions over the years.

Damien Fleming has been voted in as Vice president, with David Heffernan announced as Treasurer and Rod Pollock as club secretary.

Jock White, Luke O’Connor, Jackson Fry and Jess Harris will all continue as committee members, with Ravi Wickramaratne, Adam Hanger and Stu Fairley being voted in this year.

CAPTAINS

This season has brought about several captaincy changes, with Luke Shelton the only captain continuing on this season.

Jacob Long, Nathan Guinea, and Aaron Blanch have all been announced as captains for their respective teams this season, marking their first leadership roles. Long will lead the 2nd XI, Guinea will take charge of the 3rd XI, and Blanch will captain the 4th XI. This trio of first-time captains will bring a fresh wave of leadership to the club, and we look forward to watching them flourish both as players and leaders.
